Real results.
Real privacy.
Real simple.

01

Connect your health provider

Rayl securely links to your existing test results through your doctor's portal or a home testing kit. You authorize it — Rayl pulls the signal, not the records.

02

Get your orb

Your status becomes a color-coded orb derived from clinical results. No diagnoses, no raw data, no exposure to your history. Just a verified signal.

03

Share with one tap

Generate a time-limited QR code. Your partner sees your orb status — nothing more. It auto-expires. You stay in control, always.

04

Stay in the loop

If someone you've connected with reports a change, Rayl notifies you privately — no names, no details, just a nudge to test again.

VERIFIED CLEAR

Testing verified — all clear

ATTENTION RECOMMENDED

It is time to update test results

UNVERIFIED

Test results have not been connected or verified

ATTENTION REQUIRED

Test results require attention

Privacy isn't a
feature. It's the foundation.

🔒

Zero raw records stored

Rayl never holds your medical records, test results, or diagnoses. We derive a status signal and immediately discard the source data.

You control every share

Every orb exchanged is time-limited and single-use. No one can access your status without your explicit action, ever.

🔗

Clinically sourced, not self-reported

Your orb is backed by real test results pulled directly from verified providers — not a checkbox someone ticked on an app.

Rayl works for
your life.

DATING

Before something new

Have the conversation without the awkwardness. Share your orb before intimacy. Mutual, simple, respectful.

ONGOING

Staying current with a partner

Keep each other in the loop as part of a healthy routine — no anxiety, no pressure, just shared transparency on your terms.

COMMUNITY

For communities that lead

LGBTQ+ communities have always led on sexual health conversations. Rayl gives you the infrastructure to match that leadership.

"54% of Americans personally know someone who has had an STI. The conversation is already happening. Rayl just makes the verification possible."

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 5, 2026

1. Our Commitment to Privacy

Rayl ("we," "us," or "our") is built with privacy as a foundational principle. We do not store, transmit, or share raw medical data. Your health verification is abstracted into a simple color-coded signal — no one, including us, can reverse-engineer your medical records from your signal.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Email address and password hash for authentication.
  • Signal Data: A computed color status (green, yellow, red), last verification date, and validity window. No test names, values, or diagnoses are stored.
  • Handshake Data: Temporary, time-limited tokens used during mutual signal exchanges. These expire automatically.
  • Anonymous Alerts: If you send an alert, only an anonymous identifier is used — the recipient cannot identify you.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To compute and display your verification signal
  • To facilitate privacy-preserving handshakes between consenting users
  • To deliver anonymous health alerts
  • To improve platform reliability and security

4. Data We Never Collect

  • Raw lab results or medical records
  • GPS or precise location data
  • Names of sexual or romantic partners
  • Browsing history or third-party tracking data

5. Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest. Authentication tokens are securely managed and never exposed to client-side storage in plain text. Row-level security ensures users can only access their own data.

6. Data Retention

Signal data is retained only as long as your account is active. Handshake tokens expire within 5 minutes and are automatically purged. You may delete your account at any time, which permanently removes all associated data.

7. Third-Party Services

If you connect a healthcare provider (e.g., via FHIR/Epic MyChart), data is processed transiently to compute your signal and is never stored in raw form. We do not sell or share data with advertisers or data brokers.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time. Contact us at privacy@rayl.app for any requests.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app's inbox system.

FAQ

Everything you need to know about Rayl.

The Basics

What is Rayl?
Rayl is a consent-based health verification app. It lets you share your verified sexual health status with a partner — instantly and privately — without exposing your underlying medical records. Your status is represented as a color-coded orb, derived from real clinical test results.
How is Rayl different from just telling my partner I've been tested?
Self-reporting relies on trust alone. Rayl pulls your status directly from verified clinical sources — your doctor's portal or a home testing provider — so the signal is backed by real results, not a checkbox you ticked yourself.
Is Rayl a dating app?
No. Rayl is agnostic to the relationship context. It works whether you're dating someone new, in an ongoing relationship, or part of a community where regular testing is a shared norm. We don't facilitate matching or messaging.

Your Orb

What do the orb colors mean?
Four states: Green (Verified Clear) — testing verified, all clear. Yellow (Attention Recommended) — time to update test results. Gray (Unverified) — results not connected. Red (Attention Required) — results require attention.
How long does my green orb stay active?
The validity window depends on your test type and provider recommendations. When your verification nears expiry, your orb shifts to yellow. Once you retest and results come through, it returns to green automatically.
Can I see my partner's full test results?
No — and that's by design. You see their orb status only. Rayl shows the signal, not the underlying data. This protects your partner's medical privacy while still giving you meaningful, verified information.

Privacy & Security

Does Rayl store my medical records?
Never. Rayl connects to your provider transiently to compute your status signal, then discards the source data. We store only the derived color status, your last verification date, and a validity window.
Who can see my orb status?
Only people you explicitly choose to share it with. Each share generates a time-limited, single-use token that expires automatically. Rayl staff cannot view your status.
What happens if I receive an exposure alert?
You'll receive a private, anonymous notification. No identifying information about the person is shared — only the nudge that testing is recommended. You won't know who sent it, and they won't know if you act on it.
Is Rayl HIPAA compliant?
Rayl operates under a user-directed data access model. Under this model, Rayl is not a HIPAA covered entity. That said, we apply HIPAA-equivalent security standards: TLS 1.3 in transit, encryption at rest, and row-level access controls.

Getting Started

Which health providers does Rayl connect to?
Rayl integrates with Epic MyChart via FHIR R4 OAuth, covering a large portion of US health systems. We also support Everlywell and Nurx. More providers are being added.
What if I don't have a connected provider yet?
Your orb will display as gray (Unverified) until you link a provider. You can still share your unverified status — full transparency is always better than no conversation at all.
How do I delete my account?
From within the app's settings. Deletion is permanent and immediately removes all associated data — signal, handshake history, and credentials.
Where is Rayl available?
